My kit config

First of all, a disclaimer - It's not a DIR rig.

I know it's not DIR. I'm not trying to be DIR. So whilst any comments or suggestions about my gear are very welcome, please don't email me just to tell me all the things I'm doing that aren't DIR. Thank you.

Now, a basic overview of my kit. For a more detailed description on any piece of equipment or the thinking behind it, just click on the links.

My air (or gas, if you prefer) comes from a manifolded twinset.

On the right cylinder, I have an Apeks TX100 first stage with:
My primary demand valve (DV) on a 2 meter hose
My BC inflator, which is routed behind my neck to the corrugated hose on my left.
A blanking plug in the non-standard wide-bore port.

On the left cylinder, I have an Apeks DS4 first stage with:
My secondary DV, which is routed under my corrugated hose, behind my neck, and held under my chin by bungee
My drysuit inflator, which runs under my left arm.
My cylinder contents gauge, routed straight down and clipped to the D-ring on my BC - no console.

The cylinders are bolted to a Combro steel backplate, with a modified A.P. Valves Tek Tek Wing sandwiched in-between. The steel backplate has an unbroken webbing harness to attach the unit to me, and a backplate pocket to store my backup SMB and some trim weights.

Attached to the above rig is:
My torches
My knife
My delayed SMBs and reels
A yellow emergency flag
My weights

For diving in British waters, I invariably dive dry. I use a made-to-measure membrane suit with a Weezle Extreme undersuit. If it's cold, I add a Fourth Element Xerotherm. There are two cargo pockets, thigh-mounted.

I also wear 5mm wet (I hated dry) gloves, or 3-finger mitts when it's very cold, wet hood(s), a mask, Jetfins with spring straps, a Uwatec Pro Ultra dive computer (Left wrist)and D-timer plus compass and Sensus Pro on my right wrist unit.
